A Short Reflection on Preludes by Daryll Delgado




When you suffer , I suffer with you. To the end I am close to you like the story Preludes by Daryll Delgado  there's an essence of foreshadowing at the beginning of the text as Delgado Creates suspense for the readers. the very first line "A man died singing" , is a direct hint of where the story was heading but it was made to keep us wondering the concept of made up imagery is also evident As the succeeding parts talked about the people coming to a funeral of a jude everybody hated,but just because a feast was prepared they no intentions to weep for the deadThere's an essence of foreshadowing at the beginning of the text as Delgado Creates suspense for the readers. the very first line "A man died singing" , is a direct hint of where the story was heading but it was made to keep us wondering the concept of made up imagery is also evident As the succeeding parts talked about the people coming to a funeral of a jude everybody hated,but just because a feast was prepared they no intentions to weep for the dead. In Daryll Delgado'short story "Preludes" talks about gender inequality in terms of the issue of infidelity and the effect of it in the family.In the Philipines society, it shows how women can still accept their husbands who different story. Women who cheated are judged by other people and think they are "whore" who did not save their dignity As women. She was aware of her husband's sins, she judt didnt say a word about it, she couldn't.This uneasiness grew on to be a dark emotion that built up inside nenita.

This technique helps readers understand the motivations and emotions of the characters, making their current situations more relatable and impactful. this Story talks about the issue of gender inequality in the philipines. this issue is also seen in filifino families wherein the husband has the full control of everything and the wife does not have the rigth to contradict him. As seen in the story nenita cannot speak her mind when her husband's Siblings were talking ill of her. She is not allowed to commit adultery and she just accept whatever her husband is doing. The theme of the story is Gender inequality-It demonstrates how women may accept their husbands who are having affairs, but it is a different story for women who are having affairs. Women who cheat are labelled as "whores" by those who believe they have forfeited their female dignity.Love and betreyal-Even though she knew he was unfaithful to her, Nenita was described as kind, caring, understanding, and compassionate towards her husband in the narrative. Her spouse was ungrateful; rather than recognizing Nenita's hard work, he decided to cheat and see other women.The Critical Lens that Apply in the story Preludes is Psychological Lens We Connect In the real Life events like
Cultural and Social Identity- The theme of finding one's identity in a complex world can be linked to real-life experiences of individuals navigating cultural heritage, globalization, and personal beliefs.
